Tech Help

Get one-on-one help with your basic tech questions. Drop in at any time during the session with your device and questions. The time available to answer your questions will vary depending on group size. Make the most of your time by preparing your questions
ahead of time, keeping them specific and simple, and asking your most important questions first. Questions are answered on a first-come, first-served basis. No tech experience is needed.

Computer Basics

Learn the basic parts of a computer, how to use a mouse and keyboard, and how to navigate a computer screen. This class is designed for technology beginners. Have a laptop? Bring it with you! Computers will not be provided and are not required for this
class. No tech experience is needed.

Smartphone Basics

Learn the basics of how to use a smartphone, including how to turn your device on and off, answer and make calls, read and send text messages, and more. This class is designed to cover the very basic smartphone features for beginners. For both iPhones and Android phones. Have a smartphone? Bring it with you for hands-on practice. Don’t forget to bring your login credentials for your phone and Apple or Google account! No tech experience needed.

Smartphone Apps

Learn what smartphone apps are, how they work, and how to find, download, remove, and manage them on your phone. This class is designed for smartphone users who are comfortable with the basics but want to learn more about apps and how to use them. For both iPhone and Android smartphones. Have a smartphone? Bring it with you for hands-on practice. Don’t forget to bring your login credentials for your phone and Apple or Google account! Basic tech experience recommended. (Before attending
this class, attendance at Bug Tussel University’s “Smartphones Basics” class is recommended.)

Smartphone Photos

Learn how to view, save, share, organize, and edit photos on your smartphone. This class is designed for smartphone users who are comfortable with the basics and are ready to learn more about managing photos on their device. For both iPhone and Android smartphones. Have a smartphone? Bring it with you for hands-on practice. Don’t forget to bring your login credentials for your phone and Apple or Google account! Moderate tech experience recommended. (Before attending this class, attendance at Bug Tussel University’s “Smartphones Basics” class is recommended.)

Online Security

Understand steps and strategies to protect your information and improve your internet security. Learn about password safety, protecting your personal information, avoiding scams, and more. This class is designed for basic technology users who want to
become more proactive in protecting their safety. Basic tech experience is expected.

News Literacy

Learn how to critically evaluate the news and stories from an online news site, a social media post, or a video. Understand how to identify reliable sources of information, determine which news reports are credible, and recognize what hidden agendas might
be present in the media. Also, learn the key concepts of news literacy and the skills needed to make informed decisions about the news. This class is designed for basic technology users who enjoy finding news on social media sites or the internet. Basic tech experience is expected.

Video Streaming

Learn the basics of how to watch movies and TV shows through streaming. This class is designed for technology users who are comfortable using the internet, smartphones, and computers and are ready to make the switch from cable to streaming. You’ll learn what streaming services are, how they work, how to find movies and shows, how to play and pause movies or episodes, and how to save movies or episodes for later. You’ll also learn about the types of streaming services you can choose from so you can pick the right one for you. Moderate tech experience expected.

Audio Streaming

Learn how to listen to media such as music, news, stories, podcasts, and more on an iPhone or Android smartphone. Understand the basic features of using a podcast and music app, including how to find podcasts and music, play and pause episodes and songs, and save songs and episodes for later. This class is designed for technology users who are comfortable using the internet, smartphones, and computers and ready to start streaming audio media on their phones. Have a smartphone? Bring it with you for hands-on practice. Don’t forget to bring your phone login and Apple or Google account credentials! Moderate tech experience is expected.

Facebook Basics

Learn the basic features of Facebook and how to use them. Understand more about Facebook profiles, posting, liking, commenting, and sharing. Also, learn how to improve internet safety and privacy while using Facebook. This class is designed for basic technology users who are comfortable using the internet, smartphones, and computers and are ready to get more out of their Facebook account. Have a smartphone, tablet, or laptop you already use for Facebook? Bring your device and Facebook login info with you for hands-on practice. Basic tech experience is expected.

Video Chatting

Learn how to video chat with a computer or smartphone. Understand how to sign on to a video call, see and hear yourself and others on a video call, mute yourself and turn off your camera, and comment and chat. Also, learn about the different types of video
chat providers and which is right for you. This class is designed for basic technology users who are comfortable using the internet, smartphones, and computers. Moderate tech experience is expected.

Telehealth Basics

Learn how to use the basic features of most online telehealth services, including how to attend a virtual doctor’s visit, how to access your health records, how to pay bills, and how to schedule appointments. You’ll also learn how to ask your doctor where you can sign up for and use telehealth. Moderate tech experience expected.

Digital Brain Wellness

Learn what types of online activities are good for your brain and the basic features of how to do them. You’ll also learn some strategies for managing your cognitive health with the internet as well as what types of online activities to avoid. Moderate tech experience expected.

Smart Shopping

Learn how to unlock the full potential of your smartphone or tablet by mastering the art of digital shopping. Discover how to seamlessly navigate various grocery shopping apps and effortlessly clip digital coupons to maximize savings. Step-by-step guidance will be provided on creating shopping lists, comparing prices, and uncovering the best deals, all without the hassle of traditional paper coupons. Also, learn essential safety and privacy tips to secure personal information while shopping online. Moderate tech
experience is expected.

Topics will include discovering the benefits and safety measures of selling online, providing hands-on practice, and exploring multiple platforms such as Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist, and eBay. Learn what Artificial intelligence (AI) is all about and how it is being used in everyday life. Understand the many benefits of AI and how it can make life easier. Also, learn about the concerns of AI and what can be done to ensure security and privacy. No tech experience is needed.

Online Tax Basics

Learn the basics of online tax filing, including the types of online tax filing services and what factors to consider. Get a glimpse of what filing taxes online looks like and what kinds of tech skills are needed to file taxes online. Understand the online tools and services available to help prepare taxes and safety measures that are in place. Also, learn about IRS-provided free tax filing programs and what some commercial online tax preparation software programs offer.
