Outagamie County, Wisconsin, has significantly expanded its high-speed internet access, particularly in rural areas like Seymour, Black Creek, Cicero, and parts of the Oneida Reservation. Internet provider Bug Tussel has already installed 50 miles of fiber-optic cable and plans to lay 125 more, supported by a $24 million county bond that Bug Tussel will repay. New internet towers are also being installed to extend coverage to around 700 households in northeast Outagamie County. While it’s still unclear how many residents will subscribe, the demand for reliable broadband is evident among locals like Rhonda Blake, who struggles with weak internet. Bug Tussel estimates that around 7,000 homes in the county had minimal or no internet access before the project. County officials emphasize that high-speed internet is essential for economic development and quality of life, and this project marks just the beginning of broader efforts.
