CRANDON, Wisc. (June 24, 2025) – Five new wireless towers in Forest County bring residents expanded options for high-speed internet service. The Bug Tussel towers near Argonne, Cavour, Nelma, Newald, and Richardson Lake are now live, giving residents in nearly 1,000 homes and businesses the opportunity to connect.

The new fixed wireless sites require line-of-sight connectivity and provide speeds of up to 50 megabits per second to residents in the communities of Cavour, Nelma, Newald, and Wabeno. Speeds at the Richardson Lake tower reach up to 25 megabits per second, with additional capacity expected to come online soon.

These new fixed wireless sites represent the latest milestone in Bug Tussel’s ongoing infrastructure expansion project with Forest County. The project has installed 16 fixed wireless sites across the county and approximately 30 miles of fiber infrastructure surrounding Metonga Lake. Nearly 7,100 homes can access high-speed internet with live fiber and fixed wireless service. Work is currently underway to install an additional 80 miles of fiber, with further fiber expansion work expected in 2026 and beyond.

“These five new towers mark a significant step forward in our mission to connect residents in Forest County and rural Wisconsin,” said Scott Feldt, Executive Director of Public Affairs at Bug Tussel. “Forest County residents and businesses now have access to the high-speed internet connectivity they need to work, learn, and thrive in today’s digital economy.”
