LA PRAIRIE, Wis. (June 10, 2025) – As of June 4, nearly 20 new homes in La Prairie have internet connectivity options from Bug Tussel fiber. Thanks to a collaborative partnership between Rock County and internet service provider Bug Tussel, high-speed fiber is now available to nearly 800 Rock County homes, nearly 150 of those located in the Town of La Prairie.

The new fiber is located along sections of South County Road J, East Maple Lane, and South Belding Road. Homes and businesses located along the route are eligible to connect.

Last month, nearly 100 Town of La Prairie homes received expanded broadband access with new fiber in the western part of town. The Bug Tussel fiber became available to residents located along parts of South County Road G and South Read Road on May 7.

Fiber connectivity comes to the Town of La Prairie and greater Rock County as a result of a collaborative broadband expansion project between Rock County and Bug Tussel. The ongoing project, which originated in 2022, was designed to support county emergency services and expand high-speed internet to county residents with fiber and wireless infrastructure. Nearly 8,100 locations now have broadband connectivity access as a result of Bug Tussel’s buildout of
nearly 110 fiber miles and nine wireless sites.

We’re excited to bring fast, reliable internet to more families in La Prairie,” says Bug Tussel’s Executive Director of Public Affairs, Scott Feldt. “Rural communities deserve the same quality connectivity as anywhere else, and we’re committed to making that happen throughout Rock County.”
