GREEN BAY, Wis. (January 9, 2026) – Approximately 110 miles of high-speed fiber went live this week in southwest and central Brown County, passing 1,500 homes with 2 Gbps service and providing approximately 3,450 residents with the opportunity to connect. The new fiber reaches areas near Holland, Greenleaf, Ledgeview, Denmark, and Wrightstown, marking another significant expansion of Bug Tussel’s growing network in Brown County.

This latest activation follows December’s lighting of over 20 miles of fiber in southeast Brown County, which brought service to the Shirley, Wayside, and Lark areas. Combined with previous activations, including July’s lighting in Pittsfield, Bug Tussel’s Brown County network has now expanded to approximately 130 miles of live fiber infrastructure, passing approximately 2,000 homes and providing roughly 4,600 residents with the opportunity to connect. This progress reflects the strong collaboration between Bug Tussel and Brown County.

This growing network forms a robust middle-mile fiber backbone and creates an open-access framework to support future fiber expansion. The network is expected to play a pivotal role in last-mile development through the federal Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program.

In addition to the fiber network, Bug Tussel operates six fixed wireless sites throughout Brown County, which provide broadband internet access to approximately 12,400 homes, giving roughly 28,500 residents the opportunity to connect to service.

Combined, Bug Tussel’s fiber and wireless infrastructure now passes approximately 14,400 homes across Brown County, providing approximately 33,100 residents with the opportunity to access high-speed internet service. This milestone is made possible through the partnership and support of the county.
