(Brown County, Wis.) – Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach, along with area leaders, will hold a fiber lighting ceremony marking the official start of the Bug Tussel Broadband Project on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Following the fiber lighting, attendees will have the opportunity to observe a fiber splicing demonstration and visit the fiber connection site where the new network connects to one of the County’s emergency towers.

The Broadband Expansion Project with Bug Tussel will deploy over 200 miles of fiber and several wireless towers throughout underserved Brown County communities. Fixed wireless service has already been installed at six sites, passing over 12,000 homes and businesses. The full fiber network is expected to serve approximately 2,500 homes.
