DENMARK, Wis. (December 12, 2025) – Over 20 miles of high-speed fiber are now live in southeast Brown County, bringing 2 Gbps service to approximately 380 residents. Following July’s lighting of 20 miles in Pittsfield, this addition expands Bug Tussel’s Brown County network to nearly 50 miles of middle-mile fiber infrastructure. This progress reflects the strong collaboration between Bug Tussel and its county partners.

The new fiber route extends west and south from the Town of New Denmark toward the community of Wayside, passing locations such as Way-Morr Park, Northern Concrete, and fixed wireless towers on Park Road and Man Cal Road.

Service is available immediately. Residents can sign up by calling 1-877-227-0924 or visiting btussel.com.

Construction is already underway on an additional 160 miles of fiber that will extend service across more of Brown County. This growing network forms a robust middle-mile fiber backbone and creates an open-access framework to support future fiber expansion. The network is expected to play a pivotal role in last-mile development through the federal Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program.

To date, Bug Tussel’s high-speed fiber and wireless infrastructure has brought broadband access to 12,550 Brown County homes and businesses (approximately 28,850 residents). This milestone is made possible through the partnership and support of the county.

“Every time we light a new stretch of fiber, we’re opening the door to faster speeds and better connections for the community,” said Melody Johnson, Director of Community Affairs at Bug Tussel. “Thanks to strong county partnerships, we’re keeping momentum high and bringing reliable internet to more homes and businesses across the region.”
