Bug Tussel Brings 2 Gbps High-Speed Internet Access to 400 New Homes and Businesses

JEFFERSON, Wis. (November 12, 2025) – Over 20 miles of high-speed fiber are now live in the Jefferson area, bringing 2 Gbps fiber service access to approximately 400 new homes and businesses. Following September’s lighting of 20 miles in Ixonia and Concord, this latest addition brings Bug Tussel’s Jefferson County network to nearly 100 miles of fiber infrastructure.

The new fiber extends outward from the City of Jefferson, running north along portions of County Road Y towards Johnson Creek and west along County Road J and U.S. Highway 12 towards Cambridge.

Service is available immediately. Residents can sign up by calling 1-877-227-0924 or visiting btussel.com.

Construction is already underway on an additional 40 miles of fiber, which will extend service to residents near Lake Mills and surrounding communities.

Bug Tussel’s fiber network brings a middle-mile fiber backbone across Jefferson County, creating an open-access framework to support future fiber expansion. The network is expected to play a pivotal role in last-mile development through the federal Broadband Equity Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program.

To date, Bug Tussel’s high-speed fiber and wireless infrastructure has brought broadband access to approximately 3,500 Jefferson County homes and businesses, a milestone made possible through the partnership and support of Jefferson County.

“Every mile of fiber we light represents real progress for families, businesses, and communities that have long been waiting for reliable high-speed internet,” said Melody Johnson, Director of Community Affairs at Bug Tussel. “Jefferson County has been an incredible partner in helping us bridge the digital divide and bring new opportunities for growth, education, and connection to residents across the region.”
