Over 50 Miles of High-Speed Fiber Internet Now Live in Central Outagamie County
APPLETON, Wis. (September 29, 2025) – Over 50 miles of fiber optic network went live on September 23, bringing high-speed internet connectivity to approximately 630 homes and businesses across six communities. The new fiber infrastructure delivers internet speeds up to 2 Gbps to residents in New London, Stephensville, Center Valley, Binghamton, Five Corners, and Freedom.
The new fiber route extends east to west through the heart of the County, enhancing connectivity and expanding service options for rural residents and businesses that have historically faced limited internet access.
“We’re excited to celebrate another milestone in our partnership with Outagamie County,” said Bug Tussel Executive Director of Public Affairs, Scott Feldt. “With this activation, hundreds more residents and businesses in central Outagamie County now have access to the reliable, ultra-fast broadband service that supports remote work, online learning, telehealth, and entertainment.”
This latest expansion builds on Bug Tussel’s recent activations, including 50 miles of fiber in northeast Outagamie County in July (nearly 750 locations) and 25 miles of backbone fiber in northwest Outagamie County in August (250 locations). Together, these deployments bring the county’s total newly activated fiber in 2025 to 125 miles, bringing service to more than 1,600 locations countywide.
When complete, the fiber network is anticipated to span nearly 180 miles across Outagamie County, with additional service provided by fixed wireless sites. Construction continues in southern Outagamie County as part of the ongoing countywide expansion, further extending high-speed internet access. The comprehensive network expansion is expected to provide high-speed internet service to nearly 7,000 locations countywide, effectively bridging the digital divide for rural communities throughout the region.
