Over 50 Miles of High-Speed Fiber Internet Now Live in Northeast Outagamie County
APPLETON, Wis. (July 1, 2025) – Over 50 miles of fiber optic network went live on June 24, bringing high-speed internet connectivity to nearly 750 locations across five communities in northeast Outagamie County. The new fiber infrastructure delivers internet speeds up to 2 Gbps to residents in the Leeman, Black Creek, Nichols, Seymour, and Chicago Corners areas.
The fiber route extends across portions of State Highway 168, State Highway 47, State Highway 55, Pearl Street, and County Road H, connecting communities that have faced limited highspeed internet options.
“This milestone represents a significant step forward in bridging the digital divide for rural communities,” said Bug Tussel Executive Director of Public Affairs, Scott Feldt. “Residents in northeast Outagamie County now have access to ultra-fast, reliable internet service that supports everything from remote work and online education to telehealth and entertainment
streaming.”
The fiber deployment is part of a comprehensive partnership between Bug Tussel and Outagamie County, launched in 2023 to address connectivity gaps throughout the region. The project specifically targets unserved and underserved areas while also supporting critical county infrastructure and emergency services. The completed fiber network is anticipated to span nearly 180 miles across Outagamie County, with additional service provided by fixed wireless sites. The comprehensive network expansion is expected to provide high-speed internet access to nearly 7,000 locations countywide.
